What is the difference between CDRouter and CDRouter-Multiport?

CDRouter allows two physical interfaces within the host system to be used for testing. One interface is connected to the WAN port on the device under test (DUT) and the other is connected to one of the DUT's LAN ports.

The CDRouter-Multiport add-on extends this functionality by allowing multiple WAN and/or LAN connections on the DUT to be tested simultaneously. CDRouter-Multiport includes a number of additional test cases that exercise multi-WAN or LAN functionality including RIPv1/v2, WAN-failover, forwarding between multiple LAN and WAN interfaces, and multi-WAN NAT.

When using CDRouter-Multiport with multiple WAN connections, each additional connection can be either a physical interface such as an Ethernet or ATM interface, or a logical interface such as an ATM PVC. Likewise, with CDRouter-Multiport, it is possible to have both wired and wireless LAN connections included in the same test session. For multiple LAN connections, each additional connection can be a different physical interface such as a wireless interface or Ethernet interface.

The following devices are well suited for testing with CDRouter-Multiport:

  • Dual WAN router
  • Wireless routers
  • Dual T1 Router
  • xDSL routers with multiple PVC support
