What options should I include when sending log files to QA Cafe Support?

When contacting QA Cafe Support with questions about a particular test, please be sure to include the test log file with the -trace and -pt options enabled, at minimum. These options enable packet and protocol level events in the log file which aid in analysis of any issues.

Additional options should also be include but vary slightly for BuddyWeb users (as opposed to buddy users).

BuddyWeb users

The -trace and -pt options are enabled by default in BuddyWeb. BuddyWeb's log file options can be modified in the Log Files drop-down box located on the Advanced tab. In many cases it is preferable to send the entire results directory when communicating with QA Cafe Support. To export a results directory, which will include all information associated with a particular test run, simply navigate to the Results tab and click the Export icon. This will produce a .zip or .tgz file which can be sent directly to QA Cafe Support with any questions.

Note: In some cases certain attachments (.zip for example) may be blocked by mail servers. If this happens, please change the default export format to .tgz and try sending the attachment again. If the problem persists, please notify support@qacafe.com. The default export format can be changed in the Export Format drop-down box o the Advanced tab.

Buddy users

In addition to the -trace and -pt options, buddy users should also enable the -capture and -show-vars options. The -capture option enables LAN and WAN packet captures (separate files will be created) while the -show-vars option will include the contents of the CDRouter configuration file in the log file.

The -show-vars option is explained in more detail here:
