Most of the changes to BuddyWeb for CDRouter 4.0 are cosmetic updates to help you get the most out of CDRouter. Among these changes, the most noticeable should be:
The new front page of BuddyWeb gives you quicker access to whatever it is you need to do. We created the idea of the quickedit boxes, which allow you to open up a configuration file, or package for editing from the front page. This makes editing packages just as accessible as starting them with quickstart.
You will also notice that BuddyWeb has received more polished graphics. Some of the gradients and pinstripes are gone, and in general it has a cleaner appearance. Dialogs are easier to read - tabs easier to click, and pages have a more unified look.
When you have more than one CDRouter license, and are using multiple installations of BuddyWeb at the same time, it was easy to get mixed up as to which window managed which server. BuddyWeb for CDRouter 4.0 adds the machine's hostname to the title bar of the window to keep things sorted out.
Another big change you will notice is the improvements made to the Log Viewer. Now while reading CDRouter logs from inside BuddyWeb, you not only get the benefit of Trace-Highlighting, but now we show line numbers, and new filtering options!
Filtering logs on the fly is easy too. Simply choose the messages you want to see from the drop-down at the top of each log, and the display will update automatically.
To also aid in reading CDRouter logs, we've introduced "sections" to each test. These sections are distinguished by extra space and a darker text color to show you when major steps are taking place within a test case. Developers can generate similar output in their tests by using the new buddy::logsection command.
Because all customer licenses and software downloads are now available 24/7 from the Customer Lounge area of our website, we thought it was nice to have access to the lounge straight from inside BuddyWeb. To update your CDRouter license, or view documentation and downloads, simply visit the Lounge!
On occasion you may want to restart BuddyWeb on your machine. If for instance, you have just updated your license, you must restart. Before now, you needed to access the Linux CLI, or reboot your whole machine to restart BuddyWeb. Now, you can do it with the press of a button.
We hope that this update to BuddyWeb will improve your CDRouter experience. As always, any feedback, comments, or requests are welcomed. Simply send us an email at support@qacafe.com.
Enjoy BuddyWeb!
