How can I run tests that require multiple LAN clients on a single wireless interface?

Some test modules and test cases require multiple LAN DHCP clients in order to run. When CDRouter is configured with a wireless LAN interface, these test cases are automatically skipped by CDRouter, because most wireless adapters do not allow multiple clients to be created using a single wireless radio. However, you can still run some of these test modules using a wireless workgroup bridge device that supports multiple Ethernet clients.

When using the wireless workgroup bridge, the CDRouter configuration file is configured for Ethernet on the LAN interface. You must configure the testvar lanType as Ethernet in your configuration file:

  testvar lanType ethernet

In this type of setup CDRouter treats the interface type as a normal Ethernet interface, allowing you to run tests that require multiple DHCP clients.

The following diagram shows a CDRouter configuration using a wireless workgroup bridge.

The wireless bridge must be a "workgroup" bridge that supports multiple Ethernet MAC addresses. There are also "simple" wireless bridge products that generally support a single MAC address on the Ethernet side. These products will not work since only a single DHCP client can be created.
