How do I get WPA support for my U.S. Robotics USR5416?
The U.S. Robotics USR5416 802.11g wireless PCI card does not currently come with drivers that support WPA-PSK or WPA-RADIUS authentication. The most recent driver for WPA is not yet available on Linuxant's website. However, there are Windows drivers on
U.S. Robotic's website that support WPA. Simply, download the latest version of the driver (currently 6.0b15) and install it on a Windows system. You'll then need to find the following files: usr11g.inf, usr11g.sys, fwrad16.bin, and fwrad16.bin. You should be able to find the .inf file in C:\WINDOWS\INF while the other three files should be in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS. You'll then need to transfer these files to your Linux machine running CDRouter and then upload the .inf file with Driverloader. Driverloader will then ask for the other three files and complete the installation of the driver. Your USR5416 802.11g card should now support WPA-PSK and WPA-RADIUS authentication. You can confirm this by running:
% dmesg
You should see something like the following in the output:
wlan0: WPA, AES, TKIP, WEP128, WEP64 supported
