Captures files are saved with the ".cap" extension. The first time your browser tries to open a capture file, it will ask you what to do. For Firefox users, choices will include "Open with..." and "Save to disk." Click "Open with" and navigate to the Wireshark executable which is typically located in /usr/bin/wireshark. Next, check the box that says to "Do this automatically for files like this from now on" to force Firefox to automatically open Wirehsark when viewing capture from this point forward.

You can change this association at any time by editing your Firefox Preferences.
