Does your device support TR-069 HTTP bulk data collection for analytics applications? Have you had a detailed look at your device’s behavior in logs generated by CDRouter’s firewall tests? Does your device lock down responses to DHCP requests to the correct ports?

CDRouter 11.4 is here, and expands your test capabilities to cover this and a host of other new features. You can read the full release notes to see it all!

HTTP bulk data collection of TR-069 parameters

The most recent versions of TR-069 include a mechanism that allows an ACS to set up a group of parameters that it wants a CWMP endpoint to report every so often in a minimized JSON or CSV format. This can be useful for analytics and troubleshooting applications that may be separate from the ACS and need to crunch the raw numbers, without relying on setting up a TR-069 session.

CDRouter includes test cases that cover this feature, defined in Annex N of TR-069. CDRouter will use AddObject and SetParameterValues to configure a group of parameters, then test that your device sends the data in the correct format to an HTTP server, at the correct time interval. Very useful for modern deployments!

Q-in-Q is a tunneling technology useful for providers or enterprises who want to create a direct layer 2 connection between different sites. For the devices terminating these connections, testing the performance of those links in the lab is critical to making sure they will work well in the field.

In 11.4, CDRouter Performance tests can be run over Q-in-Q links, letting you automate your qualification of this important feature.

New DHCP interface tests

One common router pitfall is when its DHCP server responds to DHCP requests on a port that shouldn’t be offering that service (i.e., on the WAN), or when its DHCP client accepts DHCP replies on a port that didn’t make the request (i.e., on the LAN). This can not only cause network problems, but is also a security risk!

CDRouter’s base test cases now include tests to verify that the DUT’s DHCP behavior stays restricted to the proper port. As CDRouter becomes more and more focused on security and common vulnerabilities, these tests are a must-run for your DUT.
